MEDIA POLICIES
How Many Books Can I
Check Out?
When students inquire about the number of checkouts allowed, we pose the question.  "How many books can you be responsible for?"   We strive to promote reading and encourage frequent visits to the media center to browse for interesting reading material.

We also coined the slogan, "you need to bring some to get some".  This helps the children to remember to return materials before checking out more.  It is possible to see your child bringing home four and five books each day.

Independent, self-selection is a process students engage in to determine what types of books are "just right" choices for them.  When students bring home materials that you deem "too hard", either vocabulary or content, use them as an opportunity to "teach" students about choosing and finding a "perfect" book.  They are used to hearing this in the library and the classroom so they should be able to verbalize to you why they made their choice.

For track out, we allow students to check out 5 books. The week of track out, students can borrow materials for track out as long as theydon't have any overdue books. If they finish their books and want to bring them back before track out is over, you can stop by any time to choose new materials.

Please remember to bring back your books - if you have any overdue materials you will not be allowed to check out
additional books or magazines.  Parents may also check out materials...inquire at the library about getting checkout priviledges.

Books need to be returned 3 weeks after they are borrowed - magazines are loaned overnight.

Books on tape are loaned for 2 days.
